Adding a second 20

I jumped on the 20ga wagon a while ago and never looked back with a weatherby sa-459 set up with the pistol grip and a fast fire. It's been a great turkey gun, when my wife hunts with me it's what I give her to shoot and I carry an old 870 pump 12 with the sure shot set up. This spring she plans to hunt a good bit more with me so I think it's time to add a second 20ga, I also have a far more significant stock pile of 20 ammo of just a box or two for my 12 option.

With kids hitting the woods soon it only makes sense to add another and go with a shorter LOP option. Now I like the pistol grip setup but I do wonder if a kid wants to use it for something other than turkey should I stick with a traditional stock so I have one of each. I also like semis to take a bit of the recoil in a light gun but I do get the reliability claim of a pump platform.

I'm pretty settled on my optics going with a holosun 507c x2, I've always had fast fires but my astigmatism does make the dot burst in low light when I'm tired and Ive seen multiple reports that green is crisper for folks that have that issue and Id like to at least see if I like a circle dot reticle.

Escort ps youth, super affordable basic platform, wish it was drilled and tapped not sure about the 11mm adapter rails holding up to turkey loads. I've read the triggers can be crazy heavy but that they cycle just about anything. Shocked by how cheap these can be found id actually have more in the reflex sight

Another also identical set up in the mossberg sa-20, this should be near identical to what I currently have.

Super Bantam, in my mind id prefer a semi but Its light, adjustable, reliable and the ambidextrous safety could come into play. My son is right handed but left eye dominant due to a vision issue so I have him practice shooting a 22 both ways because he appears more comfortable shooting as a lefty at this time.

I saw stoeger has a new turkey m3020 coming but according to them it won't hit retailers until after my season gets going.

Personally, I am a big fan of the SA-20. Between that and a model 500 youth pump , my 12's don't see a whole lot of action. I think this will be year #4 with it. No hiccups, and has fired everything from light target loads to 3" TSS. I did break it down and clean it thoroughly as well as install a Mcarbo trigger spring when I bought it. I am not a pistol grip fan, but I believe that they have that option now, too.

The Escort isn't drilled and tapped unfortunately. Finding a mount for the 11mm was challenging so it left me with 2 options.  Drill and tap, or Meadow Creek mount.  I was going to drill and tap but my daughter likes the Meadow creek mount better, so I went that route. 

It's not a top of the line gun obviously, but I haven't had any issues with mine.   The trigger is fine.  Just a slight bit of creep that I'm sure I'll polish out in the offseason.

Nick that's a great point that there's more readily available parts like trigger spring kits for the mossbergs.

The creep and weight of the weatherby trigger doesn't really bother me but when my wife first started using it she missed a few easy shots and then In field practice I noticed she was really reacting to the start of the creep and pulling up on the gun before it went off. We worked through it now but a good trigger pull is pretty important with inexperienced shooters.

Have the escort youth mounted a red dot using utg adapter  for the dovetail  receiver.  No problem coming loose. Had sumtoy cut the barrel 18 " . Love this gun and may get another.

Well, I have not hunted my sa459 for the last 3 years. The sa20 tactical has been the go-to.
Just like the gun better than the 459.

I'm the same way, had a couple of instances of my charge handle flying off on recoil and it's made me nervous about using it. Went to a Retay Gordion with the pistol grip stock. Like it better

You wouldn't happen to know what butt plate size it is? Doesn't seem to be sized the same as a standard 500 with the screw placement, I think a limbsavers would be a huge help with such a light pump. But can't seem to locate the correct model

I have one of the new m3020's on order and that is what my dealer is saying also.

So I ended up getting the super Bantam pump.

It makes sense with my son being left eye dominant to have a more ambidextrous shotgun.

I already mounted a picatinny and a holosun 507c x2, since it's the same choke thread as my weatherby I have a Carlson 575 and sumtoy 562 to start with, I also installed a macarbo spring kit immediately.

I want to put a limbsavers pad on but can't seem to find the right one that fits, I'm guessing the super Bantam takes a different one than other 500s because the 500 template the screw holes def don't line up.
