This will be the first year turkey hunting for my 11 year old grand daughter, and she wants to use her 28 gauge.
Does anyone have suggestions for tungsten shells for the 28, 2 3/4 chamber?
Thanks for any response.

Brother there's so many variables. How far will your shots be? What type of pattern do you want? I recommend not super tight and on that end can you adjust poi? What type choke and what size shot will she be using?
Nothing wrong w a 28, imo and I've used them, never for turkey as it's not legal in my state, for 30 years. I see no handicap from a 20. There prob is some but it's minimal enough to not be recognizable in hunt situations.
You got to advise more info.

She's using a Beretta turkey choke, 28" barrel. I really don't see any shots outside of 35 yards.
She's already winning her age group at turkey shoots with this gun, so she's already familiar with adjusting her point of aim.
As for shot size, that is one of the things I'm looking for advice on.  I've never used tungsten myself, I just want to give her the best opportunity while using the 28.

Apex Mossy Oak Blends. I use them in my 20 and 28 gauge guns and they pattern very well. Below is a pattern pic from my Mossberg SA-28 Tactical Turkey shooting the blends with the stock choke.

With TSS shot you do not have to overthink it. Most TSS shells will shoot more than acceptable to 40 yards. Biggest question I would ask is how do I want my pattern distributed? Do you want a really tight 10" core to 40 yards or a more open 10" with some even distribution in the 20". Personally I prefer killing bird in the 25-40 yard range but sometimes they sneak in closer so I like a solid 10" pattern at 40 but sometimes wiggle room outside the 10" for nerves and close shots, I do this same method for my 11 year old son and his 410 as well. I have not shot any 28 ga loads but a good choke like an Indian Creek and a shell like the Apex 28 ga 2.75 oz of 9.5s and I think she will be killing turkeys no problem.

I have shot a 28 for turkeys since it was legal here and the surrounding states, Foxtrot #9 Cherry Bombs and the factory choke should be fine. Aftermarket chokes around .525 are what I prefer, but whatever fits her and she shoots well is usually a winner. Z

Rogue 9.5's are bad medicine out of the 28 gauge.
