I just got a couple of Nice Dogwood Logs, very straight, 1 is about 20'long and about 10-12" at the base, the other is a little smaller and about 16', I thought about getting it rough cut and putting up for future turkey calls to be made, I'm looking for some good advice from some experienced call builders here if it's worth the effort.

Some of the best striker wood you'll find !!!

Probably make some DARNED fine trumpets, too !!!

The good Lord ain't made a gobbler I can't kill.  I just gotta be there at the right time.....  on the day he wants to die.

The other thing to consider....

Even if YOU decide you don't wanna fuss making calls from it....OTHER callmakers do.  You could sell or trade the lumber to them.

Seems like a shame to NOT do something with rare logs like you have.

The first order of business with dogwood is removing all the bark as quickly as possible. Those borers don't play or waste any time doing what they do........
