My son who is 6 asked me this morning as we were taking my wife's car to the shop.  He said, "daddy, why do the police always speed?"

How do you answer this question?

I just said "I do not know, son"

I think the kid is a genius....I find myself pondering  on the same thing.

What gets me is they will BLOW past you on I95 and then five minutes later flick lights at you when you pass by their speed trap.

May I assume you're not here to inquire about the alcohol or the tobacco?

Not defending but sometimes if there is an emergency close by and they dont want to alert the criminals to their response they may flick the lights to get through the light then turn them off. Mostly thats for bank alarms, break ins where someone might still be there etc.... I know some guys think they are above the law because they enforce in but there not and it gives cops and firemen bad names because of those d-bags.
