I had a DR appt with a Physiatrist last friday. Doc had to be well into his 80's, but very spry.  He checked me out and looked at the xrays and said" Boy, you been rode hard and put away wet" I have heard the phrase before but never from a professional, lol. Just thought it was funny. Z

Definitely a phrase I use but never in the ER.  If I did, it would be with someone I knew well and had a good sense of humor.

I once had a cardiologist say to me after a treadmill stress test, "You are in surprisingly good condition for a man of your age and weight" to which I replied, "You mean I am in good condition for an old fat man?".

Tail Feathers

Doc told me to get some good walking shoes and wear em out as fast as I could.

My wife had surgery at Mass General, a top hospital in the country, all the doctors were Harvard nerds. Except one, the anesthesiologist. The guy had neck tattoos and piercings and looked more like a diesel mechanic than a doctor. Naturally, I started to get concerned. Right before he put my wife under she asked if she should inhale from her asthma inhaler. He said " Hey, for shits and giggles why not!"  Surgery went well, later found out he Was also a Harvard MD, and an MIT PhD!!!!!!

I don't ever remember a doctor telling me anything like that but years ago when I took my daughter to school she said a friend of hers asked if she lived with her grandparents. My daughter replied no but why do you ask? Her friend said well I noticed an old white haired man picked you up from school every day so I thought it was your grandfather.   :(

I was in my late 20s and told I had the balance of a healthy 70 year old. Was a result of 6 broken bones in three years in my lower extremities in high school but yea.

Yea, completely understand, even in my apartment I am king of the balance checks, sometimes to the point I have to put a finger pads to ground to right myself, though normally just flailing a leg like a tail gets it back. Did I mention I started using trekking poles when hunting now? lol

Well...  At least it was not your psychiatrist who said that!
Did I do that?

Cut N Run

I went in for an issue with my spine and as the X-rays were being evaluated, I was making small talk with the doctor.  I mentioned that I'd seen something on TV about the pyramid builders in Egypt and how their vertebrae were flattened out at the ends from so much hard work and heavy lifting.  As soon as he slipped the X-ray on the viewing screen, his eyes went wide, then he looked at me and said "It looks like you're a pyramid builder."

It's why I'm thankful for my gobbler lounger.
