Had a guy come in behind me doing the hoot thing this weekend except his sounded like a dog woofing. fast forward to where I'm set up on a couple gobblers and getting some response from them.  Next thing you know they are flying across the valley from the top of the a small ridge top followed by the dog woofing hoot owl.

This guy sounded like a St. Bernard barking at the mailman to an owl cadence without the roll at the end. Apparently he was pretty proud of it the way he sounded off shattering the peaceful morning over and over again.

   The number one way to shut a good gobbling bird down around here is by blowing any type of locator call. It happens to me every year atleast once. I just sit tight and wait because the birds obviously know something isn't right. After they try every call in their vest, get back in the truck and slam the doors real hard and drive off they'll usually gobble again on their own in a couple minutes to see if your still interested. Lol
