Went for a quick evening set at a mid-FL romp-n-stomp and only activity were a few Turkeys stepping over my tracks I took to get to the spot; ~ 200-300 yds from where I setup.

Great seeing sign, but almost like a bad teasing or poke in the eye.

But of course, could have been the hunter as well?

And another poke in the eye in the AM :turkey2:

They may be smarter than we thing.  Lots of toms and they gobbled great yesterday morning on the season opener.  Today, day 2, We heard two very distant gobblers and never had a conversation with one.  The weather was pretty much the same, did three hunters shut 'em down on all 5K acres???  I think they have calendars. :D
Love to hunt the King of Spring!

Calendars for sure!

Don't doubt we'll see them back in the fields and side of the roads now that season is over!!

Ya look at the size of those poult tracks! That is why Florida has been so tuff this year! They were doing the thing probably a month or better before season started.

I'd say the smaller tracks are dove or maybe a quail?

I know the Mottled Ducklings have hatched - don't know about the poults?

Turkeys are far from being smart, but when something is trying to eat you from before you are born until the day you die, 24 hrs. a day 365 days a year you are sure not stupid.
