Out of a 12 gauge 3 or 3.5" tss would you rather shoot 8's or 9's? Curious if a 3" #9 would be about the same pellet count wise as 3.5" #8's.

If you go to Apex's website they list pellet counts for each shell they make.

Ounce for ounce, 9s. The efficacy of 9s has been proven so really no need to go bigger, in my opinion. Take the higher pellet count. Truthfully, though, either is stupidly more than adequate. We've gone from 100 in a 10" expectations to guys posting over 600 in a 10" from a 10ga.

Really makes no difference if you are shooting 2 oz or more of shot. If shooting less payload than that, I prefer 9s. 9s count 360/oz where 8s count 250/oz. A good TSS pattern will put 50% of the shot in the 10 @40. Either shot size has the ability to kill further than I am willing to shoot.
