Im 1/2 way thru this trough call build, and I made 1 with a differant soundboard to see how it sounds.  If you would, let me know which one you like best, or opinions on both. 1st one or 2nd one.  Calls are identicle, except for the soundboard.  Appreciate any and all comments.  Thanks, Scott.

I am no expert, in fact far from it. I like the 2nd one the best. Both real nice looking......good luck......

Nice looking calls. Can't say I think one is better than the other.  To my ear, they both are similar in tonal quality and if I didn't see the calls and know what they were, and somebody asked me what kind of call was used, I would definitely have said it was a trough call.  That "nasally" sounding yelp is a dead giveaway, and it seems to be a consistent function of that type of call from what I have seen.

Nothing wrong with that.  They sound like some turkeys you will hear in the woods and would no doubt work in a given situation.  That nasally yelp is a good sound to have in one's arsenal when hunting.  You never know when the gobbler you are working wants to hear that particular sound.   :icon_thumright:

Thank you!  One seems a bit high in pitch, but in my honest opinion, the other had a high volume.  Like the knob was turned up a bit louder on the radio.  Thanks for the input!

I like the second one, but I'd hunt either.

I hunt trough calls and for me it would be #2. It has the tone and pitch I'm looking for.

I like 2 better but I bet both would call up a gobbler.

noisy box call that seems to sound like a flock of juvenile hens pecking their way through a wheat field

Thank you all for your input.  Sounds Like the general consensus is everyone likes the glass over the cherry soundboard.  I really appreciate it.  Even tho I liked the cherry better, its not about what I like.  I'll move forward with the last 1/2 of this batch with glass in the Cocobolo troughs as I used in the 1st.  Again, thank you all.  Its nice to have some real critical input from a group like this. It helps me immensely.  Scott.

Good looking calls, I like the sound of two the most.

Number 2 did sound the the best, but i wouldn't hunt either one myself.. reason is I'm not a trough call person, i just think you can do better with a pot call. IMO ..
