Coming up fast to August, It's a good time to get out to get a sense of how well the brooding season went, how large the flocks may be to set up game plans for the staggered opening days starting in October. As September rolls in you'll find many of the fields have seen their final cuts...

I was out picking berries yesterday, none spotted but they are there. As I started bowhunting years ago I got away from fall bird hunting but I think it`s time to pick it up again. Some of my biggest birds have been taken in the fall. I don`t hunt with dogs being I don`t own any but like to locate flocks the ultimate being a flock of toms. Always enjoyable and it test your woodsmanship. Good luck and stay safe in them hills mookyj!

This will be my second year trying it, hoping to at least see as many as I did last year and hope to hear one gobble again this year. I will have my camera gear with me and hope to get some pics with my 300mm lens.

I don't take as much time away from bowhunting to fall turkey hunt as I used to, but I always gotta get out at least a day or two and give it a shot. It's nothing like the spring season, but it's fun, simple and it's cool to shoot a bird for thanksgiving.

From what I've seen and heard it's been another good hatch around here this year. I've noticed a lot of late hatched poults too which is interesting.
