Saturday morning (opening day of VA season) I called in six turkeys.  Two groups of jakes each with two.  At about 11:30 two two year olds came to my calling.  The one I took weighed 17 lbs and had a 10 3/4" beard.  Not a single gobbler from any of them.  They just sneaked in and were looking for me.  I have been back in there today and yesterday and no gobbling yet and no sightings.  It is as if they went underground.

Sixes

Probably a big boss gobbler around and they won't tolerate much gobbling from young birds.

I dealt with it for 2-3 years one time, very little or no gobbling, I finally killed the old bird and 3 days later, it sounded like a gobbling contest in the area.

They are there but do not want a butt kicking, so they will come in quietly and sneaky

Kill the Boss and you will hear them

If you are on private land might try calling and the do a gobble or two after each round of yelps. Might have one show up looking for a fight
