I rolled one with a .44 mag a few years ago after it sprayed a buddy's dog.  My truck was parked at least 100 yards away... with the windows down.  My truck smelled like skunk for weeks afterwards.  I drove with the windows down as much as I could.

According to the "mythbusters", Hydrogen peroxide, baking soda and dish soap is the only way to remove skunk stench.

i caught one in a coon trap when i was a teenager and walked through the sprayed grass to get to him and had to throw out the boots and my pants.

Sprayed a couple of times in my youth, dumb as dumb can be. We made spears and hunted them one summer in Idyllwild Ca. The smell was awful and I learned to leave them alone. Hate the smell!!!!!

I had a golden retriever who was sprayed three different times by three different skunks (!)  The first time he got sprayed he got it right in the face. He couldn't believe what had happened so he went right back at it again.  After that when he saw a skunk he thought it was great fun to grab them by the neck and shake them until they died.  Darn, he smelled bad.  Everything everybody said on this site about tomato juice is right; it does not work at all.  What we found that worked pretty well was Gee Your Hair Smells Terrifice shampoo, but they don't make it anymore.  He wasn't the smartest dog God ever made, but he's the one I miss the most.

I worked at a plant that had a hopper where trucks would dump sand into to make blocks.  It was at ground level and one night a small skunk fell into it.  I got the job to remove it and got sprayed.  Most of it hit my shirt and pants.  I did get some on my skin.  I took the cloths off and burned them.  I had the taste in my mouth so I took a dip of chew to cover it up.  I don't chew but it did help cover the smell.  Man I loved that summer job.

I got sprayed a few years ago on the trapline. I walked up on what I thought was an empty dug up and flipped trap, but actually held a skunk who had dug a hole underneath.  He shot me, I shot back, it was terrible, I had to strip down in the field and walk back to my car in the snow.
