Mounting Venom on Affinity Question
August 04, 2019, 06:18:13 PM
I recently bought a Franchi Affinity Compact 20. I got my Vortex Venom this week. I am trying to mount it. The gun came drilled and tapped with these little caps over the holes. I can't for the life of me get them out of the receiver. Please help

If it's like a Benelli, remove the bolt and use a small Allen wrench to push them out.

Amazing how easy something is with the right information. Thanks for the help. Any thoughts on using loctite mounting red dots? Any preference on location on the receiver more forward or rearward?

I did use loctite. I'm in the process of going from a scope to a red dot. I think I'll put it as far back as possible but I'm also switching rails so i won't know for sure till I get the rail.

Well I got a sumtoy mount and absolutely love it. I've heard good things about the Burris 336 mount but it has a weird distance between the screws so if yours is already drilled and tapped I'd look at the sumtoy mount.

Are you speaking of the pic rail? That's what I've got to get, a pic rail that fits an SBE2. The red dot I just bought already has a mount on it. My scope was mounted with a weaver rail. I had a post in the gun sight section hoping somebody would throw some suggestions out there. All I've seen online are EGW rails for about $30. There are a few others for $100+, I see no reason for one that expensive but I do want quality.

Look up Sumtoy customs. Guy that owns it is named William. He makes custom red dot mounts. They're only $50 much lower profile than a pic rail. Excellent quality. I have a Vortex Venom mounted on a Franchi Affinity using his mount. I looked at pic rails but his mount makes it to where it's the same size as the red dot so there is nothing sticking out in front or behind your red dot. I can send a picture of mine if you want to see.
