Years ago, I was blessed to take a young man on a deer hunt before he passed away. The group of hunters were all young men and women, some as young as 10 that only had about a year to live. So, long story short.....I'm whispering in the blind on how exciting it was to be hunting and such. This conversation was going on during the prettiest sunrise you could ever imagine. The young man squeezed my knee. He politely asked me to stop talking. He told me that he only had a few of these left (sunrises) , and wanted to enjoy it. I was so humbled. He is now looking down on us, and our hunts. Appreciate the little things folks. I deal with death of young and old every day. Some things you can't explain. But I know I appreciate the sunrises just a little more. AL

It's easy to take little things for granted like ones health until you see someone else less fortunate or your own fails.
I commend you for helping them enjoy the outdoors and giving them the chance for some piece and tranquility.

Good stuff we so often take our blessings for granted. Thank you for sharing and thank you for the opportunity you provided to that young man.

Thanks for the reminder! Silence at times is indeed golden.

Reading things like that make me feel guilty about the small things I complain about. Kids can surely humble you.

Great post on soaking it all in! I was lucky enough to kill a gobbler this morning and just sat and soaked in the morning with him by my side admiring Gods handiwork of colors on the gobbler and in the spring woods !! Truly blessed thanks for the reminder!!
