Lake of the Woods- MN/Ontario border

"The dictionary defines reverence as "a feeling or attitude of deep respect, love and awe, as for something sacred." That describes my feeling for the Canadian Shield. Fishing there is a spiritual experience for me. On my first trip of the year, after leaving the dock and going around the first point or island, I invariably stop, shut off the motor, and just sit there looking around. The beauty, the vastness, the sights and sounds, It's overwhelming.

Many of the most memorable and exciting events in my life have occurred on the Canadian Shield. You never know what you will see; what you'll find around the next island. Perhaps old native hieroglyphics. A stare down between a cow and calf moose and a timber wolf. Rafts of waterfowl that extend for a mile or more. An abandoned gold mine. Certainly awesome storms, sunsets and sunrises. Perhaps bass pro Guido Hibdon said it best in describing his first trip to Lake of the Woods. "Every time I came around a point," said Hibdon, "I expected to meet God."

If it eats I can catch it, if it bleeds I can kill it.

May I assume you're not here to inquire about the alcohol or the tobacco?
If attacked by a mob of clowns, go for the juggler.
