So...whom ever has put the hex on me recently....please remove it...it isn't funny anymore.  The
place that i've been hunting for years wass off this AM.  Birds weren't were they have always been, I actually walked right by them on the way to the regular roost.  Got set up, heard one gobbled a long way off and multiple gobblers where I had already passed.  I couldn't get back to the group without getting busted so I focused on the loner. Called him and a hen in from along way off.  Heard a gobble close and knew they were on the way.  It was to the left of me so i adjusted, bad idea.  They popped over the ridge to the right 15 yards away.  Drumming spitting, clicked off the safety and adjusted again and took a 20 yards shot.....and missed!!!!   Very humbled right now and a little confused....gonna keep at it though...I hope this means that there is a bigger, better bird out there for me...idk....sorry guys.  Its not just Iowa....had a TERRIBLE experience in Kansas on a 3 day hunt...3 years in a row that I have gone and never released the safety.   So if you can...send some positive juju my way so I can get this monkey off my back!!!  Seriously....WTF!!!!!

Things will get better. We hunted in some of the worst conditions I have been in during 3-4 seasons. Called a bird in for my buddy he missed twice, once at 25 yards and again about 30 yards. After he was shot at the first time he went behind the blind and gobbled so I called him back in when he missed again. Then he went out in the field about 70 yards and strutted and gobbled for a half hour. Keep looking forward, your time will come!

If it eats I can catch it, if it bleeds I can kill it.
