On the brink of disaster

The headline of the Southern Illinoisan this morning says it all, "Region on the brink of disaster".

We've had day after day of torrential rain, tornado alerts, high wind, hail and flooding all over. The flooding is predicted to be the worst in over 60 years. Many people are without power and have had to evacuate their homes.

Anyone living close to the Mississippi or Ohio Rivers that border this region is in peril. There are also many other smaller rivers and creeks that are out of their banks and many low-lying areas that are water covered and have caused people to have to evacuate their homes. It is very bad here and all around this area.

The even worse news is that more rain is on the way.

Thanks,
Clark

I came up I-65 on my way back from TN yesterday and it looked as I was driving through the swamplands of MS. In some areas the water was almost up to the interstate. Hope it doesn't get any worse.

That is troublesome. It's only the beginning of summer. Seems like there is a lot more of the terrible weather, nowadays vs what we used to have, years ago..Hope it gets better..Mike

We are getting so much rain here in IN it's not even funny. Season starts tomorrow and it's supposed to storm pretty good and this weekend looks like a bust too :( so hard to wait all year for this and then sit inside while it rains.

Currently, we actually have some sunshine for the first time in many days. It's supposed to start raining and again later today and some severe weather is supposed to be here as well.

Our property has some low areas on the west side and there's water standing there. Our home and my office is on "higher ground" so we should be okay.

Just south, to the west and to the east of us is another story all together. Evacuations are in progress right now.

Some of the levies on the rivers are weakening and have leaks. Please keep folks all along the rivers and low lying areas in your prayers.

Thanks,
Clark
