I'm considering putting a fastfire or a vortex venom on my 20ga 870 build. My only concern is how they hold up when being beat around. I'll have to have my gun drilled and tapped and just wondering if they're worth the money and hold up well to average turkey hunting abuse.

I've been using a Fastfire III for three years now, and so far, so good.  I use a protector mount, though.

It's a very tough optic. Not only has it handled the heaviest recoil of my turkey guns, but also hundreds of full power rounds while it was on my 500 mag as well. Probably the only thing that would break it would be landing on a rock.

Have had my Fastfire3 was one the first ones comming off the line. And has made it through more slips and slides down hills then I care to admit. You should have no problem if you go that way.

What protector mount are you using Stinkpickle and where can I buy one?

Sumtoy makes a great protector mount or I'd also highly recommend a Marlin 336 for the most low profile, solid mount.  And to answer your question, they are highly durable and Burris's Customer service and warranty are hard to beat.

I have a one from gobbler74 on here. Does a good job of protecting the sight and is cool looking as well.

I have a Gobbler74 protector on one gun and a Burris one on another.
