As a great many of us know, most of these (Anti-Gunners) have no clue even to what's what about firearms, what laws are in place and what personal responsibility is or what the NRA is even about. When I watch a NBC News show an "AR-15" (No it's a shotgun and "AR" does not stand for Automatic Rifle) shooting a watermelon, they (mainstream media) have no idea, it is just their agenda. As for Dick's And Field & Stream they will not see my business through their doors... A lot more I could go into about what other causes to what our country is facing...

Dicks quit selling them 3 yrs ago in their stores. So they then gave them to their cousin store F&S to sell talk about hypocrisy its live and well in these stores. Walmart quit selling them yrs ago also so Dunhams sporting goods store jumped in the game and was selling them. :firefighter:

Everyone wants to be successful - some just need help.

I will no longer do business with either myself.

This next comment is for all of us, please do not refer to guns/firearms as "weapons", it is the lingo of the anti's and is self defeating for us to do. A hammer is a hammer until somebody uses it to bash somebodies brains in, until then it is just a tool just like a gun is a tool.

The only group that has guns/firearms that are weapons and are designed to be weapons are military and the police. I don't really like to even say that the police are.

I think I'll visit the local Dick's and fill a cart with as many small things that will fit. Then I'll go to the gun section and ask them to "see" as many guns as I can. They can't leave you while you are looking at a gun.
Then I'll ask them what their policy is for 18 year olds. Then I'll ask to see a manager. Then I'll walk out empty handed and let them put away the mess. Next stop.............Field & Stream!

If you do this please take a video. That would be a hoot.

So my personal view about the 21 yoa for assault style rifles is I personally don't care if they raise the age, except that I don't believe it will change anything. It's like putting a bandaid on a severed limb, it won't fix the problem. I don't see this impacting most people under 21. It's like the outlawing of bump stocks, again i don't care but i think it's stupid and won't make any impact. I honestly wouldn't mind seeing the age of adulthood raised to 21 (and there is scientific evidence of why I like this idea). The not selling ammo to people under 21is stupid and restricting all gun sales to people under 21 is stupid with current laws considered. And lets face it even if they do this if s 17 year old wants a gun they will be able to find one. Mass murder is illegal and that didn't stop these shootings. I tell people as far as guns go, Obama used to say "you don't see mass shootings in other countries with strict gun laws" and he was right we generally don't, but we see bombings all the time. What happens if the government does somehow reduce guns and we see school bombings, what's next banning PVC and nails? I feel the government is just appealing to emotions for votes and they are treating a symptom not curing the disease.

I'd bet if some 20 year old kid went into these stores to legally buy a gun as was denied he'd have a big lawsuit. You can sell what you want but you can't descriminate. That's age descrimination.
Now I'd imagine a lot more kids get killed drunk driving than in mass shootings. Imagine if you said no more liquor until 30 in your bar. I'd bet that'd not fly unless you let no one in under say thirty. As in an over certain age crowd. Legally they're old enough to be involved.

It's America and a free market economy. They should be able to dictate who they sell to, let the consumers decide if it was the right move.

Filling the basket and leaving is beyond petty. The person that has to restock has no say in company policy, they are just making a living.

Agree 100%

We aren't talking about rights here.  This is a private company making a decision.

Also, I can guarantee this is some form of Dick's trying to "save face" because the shooter happened to purchase the gun used in the school shooting from a Dick's store.  I strongly believe that they would not have made this change had they not been publicized as the seller to the maniac that did the shooting.

And I think nearly all of us on this site agree that it is a culture thing not a firearm issue.

3/1/18 News today:  "Like Walmart and Dick's Sporting Goods a day earlier, Fred Meyer — a division of Kroger, the nation's largest grocery chain — said Thursday that it will immediately limit gun and ammunition sales to people 21 and older."  How about Freddy's and Walmart?  Is everyone going to boycott them, too?  I assume Krogers will follow.

I'm not spending another penny there either. After they announced it yesterday morning I went to F&S it's 10 minutes from my house and handed the sales clerk my rewards card and cut up store credit card. I paid the balance on that card off and closed the account. Funny thing is they didn't seem surprised or really bothered.

Bullying, suicide, texting while driving, and drunk driving kills thousands of teenagers but no one wants to address the problem as the kids, or the parents.

I truly believe the media loves hearing about these things, they don't care for human life as much as getting to start fires over politically charged topics
