We've gotten way too much rain for me to get to my camp so I just drove around checking some neighboring fields from the road.  I saw three different flocks of hens from the road.  All three had several toms proudly showing off.  Almost wish we weren't having this early spring weather.  It's not easy staying out of the woods when you know they are fired up.

I've already heard some gobbling. Its starting early like last year.

Yep.  Last week of Feb I was hearing birds hammering up into the morning. I'm sad my son is no longer a "youth".  We always enjoyed hunting the early youth season.

Need GPS coords to verify! ;D

They've definitely got it on their mind. I've seen a couple strutters and got a few game cam pics of strutters. I have a youth lined up too.  :happy0064:

I was goose hunting one of my turkey spots in early January...  Birds were gobbling and strutting but still flocked up...

I have hunted that ranch in October and November, and never failed to hear birds gobbling...  It was my impression that they pretty much gobble and strut all season, but become a bit more fired up in spring?  Granted, this is based on my observations only, and only in California...
Did I do that?

Fly fishermen are born honest, but they get over it.
