I'm looking at picking up a Indian creek for my 870 to put some 8 and 9 tss through. Can't decide between 675 or 680, fear that 675 will still be pretty tight 665 surely is for a hunting pattern. Are y'all getting them with or without the wad strippers and porting?

With. This is a 670 with 2.5 oz 8.5s from 870 with 20 inch barrel. These are my handloads. I got a 675 otw to open up just a little.

That's a great looking pattern, but I agree that opening it up would be good for a hunting pattern. I'm trying to get around 300 in the 10, 250+ in the 20 with 8s....going to be hard to achieve but contemplating if the 675 or 680 will get me closest

Each gun is different. I would get the 675 and hunt. I shot mine with 670 and 8s but something was off. I've gotten 340 to 320 in 10 in. with 8s before with 665 but this shot was less. This was 8s with 670 few days ago.

A 675 in a undertaker hd choke would be the most affordable and will pattern just as well as more expensive chokes 665 ported in a browing will do 250 average at 40 in the 10 with lead #6 longbeards

That's still a solid pattern with 8s in my opinion. I'll let you know how it patterns once I get the choke in hand and some decent weather to throw some shot down range.

I've got an Indian Creek .675 on the way too for my 870.  Will post results once I get out to pattern.

Using #9s and a .675 I get 500/300 patterns. Never tried the larger shot. With a .665 I got 550/260.

It'll be a turkey choke, not a paper choke. I don't want it so tight where it'll be easy to miss up close shots. That being said, I want to be able to reach out and touch one if needed.
Now this right here...Is probably the single most common sense statement I've read on a forum involving patterning in a good while.
"Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail"
