Hanks Aluminum, how about the Canarywood?

Thinking of ordering a Hanks aluminum, I see a lot of good comments on the Paduak, rightfully so since the NWTF convention. But I kind of like the looks of his Canarywood aluminum. Anyone have one or know if there's much difference in sound? Raspier, higher pitch, anything? Thanks?

If you have facebook they have sound files for both of them on there

Ol Yelper

No facebook. Out of luck for that. Thanks though!

Thanks Steelerfan but that didn't work for me either. Needed to log into facebook. A good try though. Thanks again!

Ol Yelper

I trust you guys, if you can give a listen and let me know what you think that would be great. Thanks.

To my ears the canary sounds higher pitch and the Paduak sounds raspier

I'd also consider his maple.  I've got the Padauk and maple and like the maple a little better.

Agreed. I would add, though, at 50-75 yds in the woods it would be hard to tell them apart. Throw in a different striker or two, and I'd say it's a wash. Pick the one that looks good to you, and I'm sure you'll be happy.

Thanks guys. Good advice. This forum is great for getting the answers we need. Good people willing to share what they know can save some trying, testing, and money.

Recently purchased the Padauk and am a huge fan. I will say my one qualm is this time of the year in south Alabama moisture is a big player, especially in the mornings. I ran it last week right before a pretty bad storm was supposed to push through and it made the call near impossible to run. Conditioned surface, roughed striker, and rain chalk and it still slipped. That being said the one bird I've killed this year and another I worked into range was with the Hank's aluminum. Both birds were late morning after the sun came out and it dried up and it made them gobble when nothing else would.

The canarywood sounds just as good as the padauk in my opinion. Padauk won DD Adams so naturally that's what everyone goes for.
