Looking for some input from anyone who has experience with kayaking slow moving water with turkey gun and gear. I hunt a lot of public land and have said for years I was gonna try to float a river to some very remote gobblers. Any of you ever  tried it? How did it turn out? Where did you carry your gun? Any boat recommendations?

I have used my little duck boat (poke Boat) now and then to access turkey areas.

I duck hunt in it a lot and my joke is I might as well dip my gun in the water right off the bat because its gonna get soaked.  ;D

When I turkey hunt in it I am more careful but things still tend to get wet. Just no good place to put anything really. My vest and any spare clothes or, whatever goes in a dry bag while in the boat. Just too much in the vest to risk it getting soaked.

Its also a good idea to put the gun in a floating gun case. Not really going to use it from the boat like duck hunting.

This!!  Sooner or later you will dump everything. I've have gone to a 10' john boat.  Can't get into as many places but it's more user friendly.  Especially deer hunting.

I have a LL Bean sit inside kayak that is light and can carry over shoulder. Haven't turkey hunted yet but have dragged deer down the creek with it. I love it

Big difference in most of the well designed stable boats for hunting and the typical kayaks most of us buy at a local Academy or Bass Pro.
