I just got me a new vest.
It is the Alps Outdoors Grand Slam vest. It is last years model. It has lots of pockets and has kickstand back support. I like it. I will take a picture of it when I get home.

The cabelas attaches with an elastic strap on both sides so it folds up and down pretty easy. It's a good design to be honest. The alps has heavy magnets on it and straps so for quick moves you can use the magnets and for long hikes use the straps to secure it. Also a good design imo.

Having both I like the alps "kickstand" system better because it has a flat leg end to sit on soft ground easier and the legs lock and unlock with a better system imo.

The pocket layout both have pros and cons. The alps I like the back big pocket because it holds stuff better and has a built in bladder holder if you want to use it for that or use it to secure other stuff. I also like the call pockets better and the diaphragm holder on the strap. I also like the phone holder much better. What I like the cabelas better for is the 2 big pockets that will hold all your gloves and face mask or other loose stuff. The 2 "big" alps pockets are super small.

Also if you are a somewhat skinny guy like me the alps fits much better as well. At 6"3 170lbs the cabelas was very big on me

I also like the seat better on the cabelas, it's much more dense foam but both are good.

??? I am trying to decide which new turkey vest to buy. I need one with the self supporting seat system built in. So far I can only find 3. One is Bass Pros Bucklick Creek turkey vest and the other two are from Cabelas Tactical Tat'r kickstand.  One is the more and the other is the plain Tat'r kickstand. I hunt mostly Swamp country / piney woods with fairly small pines and palmettoes. So there is plenty opportunity to have to sit down quick with no tree (at least where you need one) to support your back/setup.  Bucklick creek vest is cheaper but probably lighter as well. Has anyone tried both? Opinions please. ASAP our season comes in less than 4 weeks now. Thanks in advance for any help!

I ordered the Instinct from Cabels 3 years ago and went back to order another but they no longer carry that model. I went with the more expensive tatr kickstand with water bottle. I love the Instinct. I wanted another before they stopped making it. Keeps you from toting a chair and I hunt long hours.

I wasn't going to reply, because I already posted something about this and got numerous people freaking out about the price of it. It IS expensive. I do not disagree, but this is an extremely high quality vest. The pockets are perfectly planned, the kickstands are nice, it fits snugly without cavernous pockets you have to dig through, and has tremendous support for your back and shoulders as you sit. the most comfortable seat I have ever even seen. Regarding the price. This can be an expensive sport. But I look at the price divided over 10 years of heavy hunting as well worth it. So let the negative cost comments begin, but I put a lot of value on comfort, and to me, it's worth it. I save my money by resisting the urge to buy 3 $50 box calls each year, and 2 $45 pot calls!  :goofball:

Primos has a new one out much like the Bucklick Creek.  There's a post on it on this board.  Poster said the back was  a a bit taller than the BassPro Bucklick Creek.  Looked pretty nice.  You may want to check that out.
Love to hunt the King of Spring!

Gobble!

I know you didn't mention it but I just got a Alps Grand Slam and it is sweet. My first kick stand vest, why did I wait so long?

The new Primos looks nice. I like that it can hold 4 slates and 2 boxes.
