Dark Clouds Are Gathering

As I sit in my office and look out the window toward the north, I see a very cloudy sky. I was out earlier today and it was cool, about 45, and there were clouds gathering in the west. For many, a cloudy day may not seem like a good one but I am delighted to see those clouds.

We've not had rain in well over 100 days. I think it was 110 days the last time I heard. Everything is dry and we are in some stage of drought with other areas near by even in worse shape than we are.

There have been forest fires in western North Carolina and in our part of the world, north western South Carolina as well. Smoke from those fires has drifted here on several days and I could smell it again this morning.

So, the prospect of rain this afternoon, this evening and for the next 2 days has many of us very happy. I'll be glad to be inside watching it rain or maybe I'll even go out, sit on the porch, have some coffee and enjoy the weather.

How's it been where you are?

Thanks,
Clark

Spring Creek Calls

Here in southern Michigan you'd need a gas can and a match to start a fire.  We had a lovely warm fall up until about a  week ago.  Rain mixed with snow and back to rain since then.

Here in NY it's been the typical fall weather (rainy the last couple weeks with brisk mornings with a couple of really windy day's)

Same as you Clark.  Here in Gainesville GA we are eager for just a drop of rain.  I just hope the dry trees and branches don't get wet, heavy, and cause damage.  The smoke cleared about a week ago but they said it drifted clear down to Macon.  Gonna be some good turkey hunting where those fires burned though.  Eventually.

Rained all day in your old stomping grounds Clark.  Matter of fact, it's still raining.  Hope it heads to whoever needs it!

We're expecting about ½" of rain out of this storm system, but we are 7" below normal precipitation for the year.

Double B

Burn ban has been in effect in several southern IN counties for about a month, but was lifted today due to a couple good soaks.  Muzzleloader season will be around a camp fire now.

It's dry here in NE Oklahoma.  We've had a little rain but not a lot.

One of my personal current interests is nest predators and how a majority of hunters, where legal bait to the extent of chumming coons.  However once they get the predators concentrated they don't control them.

Tail Feathers

We've had about 2.5" this month.  Almost all of it in one rainfall last week.  It rained a little today.  Seems all the south has been dry the past few months.
