It was all out of nostalgia but I just recently purchased a Bill Harper pocket box call. It's a two sided scratchbox manufactured by Lohman. It was on of my first calls and maybe time has affected my judgement but if memory serves me well it sounded pretty good. I am trying to remember about when that call wasproduced? I am thinking somewhere around late 80's to early 90's. Google has failed me and I am sure that there are some call guru's that know more about it than I do. I am all ears and thanks.

I like it!  Very similar to the design of my scratcher.

And your scratch box runs very well. I like mine a lot. It's taken up permanent residence in my vest.

The Lohman 870  Bill Harper model box call dates back to at least 1986.   My guess is that tbe scratcher was probably offered at the same time period......... probably a "Bill Harper Series" of sorts.

My guess, anyhoo.........

The good Lord ain't made a gobbler I can't kill.  I just gotta be there at the right time.....  on the day he wants to die.

Thanks gentlemen, and Mike those are some good looking scratchbox you make. My old one was given to me used so not sure when they were manufactured. I received it around 1990 or so if my memory serves me right. Really liked that call but never got to use it on a bird. Gonna take a little time to get familiar with running one again but hopefully I can take a bird this spring with it.

Oh, you will. Just give that golden horseshoe that's wedged up your backside a gentle rub and you'll have 5-6 pop up on you in no time.  :TooFunny: Heck, bring it to deer camp. Maybe you'll call in a deer with it too.

In all fairness, Happy puts in the time fellas. Hunting with him has changed my ways a bit and while it's not necessarily the easy route, it certainly feels earned in the end. Good luck with the call bud.
