:camohat:  Right from the get-go I'm not talking turkey callers (the instrument) but the call of the Wild Turkey. Over the last  seven years I've found that what gets the toms coming in for me are clucks. A series of clucks seems to get the blood flowing in the toms I've successfully called to the gun. It would be interesting to me to see what  call has brought you the most success. Thanks

We wait all year, why not enjoy the longbeard coming in hunting for a hen, let 'em' in close !!!

Cutting and clucks usually do it for me if I am trying to strike a bird.

Feeding purr and sharp cuts and clucks like some hens are pissing each other off

I guess a little bit of all of it..i try to listen and feel the bird out as he's gobbling etc. Trying to understand what he's the most interested in that day.

Depends on the hunting pressure...

Over-all, I would say that non-pressured birds tend to respond day in and day out to yelping.
Pressured birds likely respond better to more subtle clucks and purrs....
Did I do that?

Fly fishermen are born honest, but they get over it.

Since there seems to be a larger population of hens everywhere I go these days, i'd say that my "favorite" call to kill a gobbler with is gobbler yelps.

2 sharp cuts followed quickly by 4-5 tapering yelps then transition to some clucks.   If he's hot he'll fire off and usually if you shut up a minute he'll fire off again.

I like calling too much and to loud.  Which I realize is not good all the time.  It just when you find that suicidal hot head that eats it up, it sticks with you lol.

For the past several years, I've relied on the Primos gobble tube to challenge the peck order in gobblers, bringing in the Illinois limit of three again this year. I do throw in a few hen yelps, but mainly to allow the gobble tube to interrupt the yelps, giving the impression that there's not only a new hen in the area but an intruder tom is courting her. So...area gobblers...what are you going to do about it?!!

I do well with a short series of 3 to 4 soft yelps.

My favorite call is the one the thunder chicken responds to. This is why I have about 10,000 calls in my vest :-)
