Was wondering if anyone on here has hunted with Richard Grammer down in Mexico for Rios. I'm looking at going next year. He's like two hours south of Laredo Texas.

In answer to your question,...no, I am not familiar with that outfit.

...But, I am a bit curious about why someone would go to the trouble to go to Mexico to hunt Rio's when there are so many good opportunities to hunt them here in the U.S. without having to deal with the issues (and expense) associated with hunting in Mexico?  (not trying to be contentious,...just an honest question about the rationale behind doing this).

I can understand folks wanting to go to Mexico to hunt Gould's,...it is what you have to do, for the most part, to get one of them.  I have done it myself several times.  However, I don't think I would make that kind of effort to go down there to hunt Rio's.  Again,...just curious....

My exact thoughts as well GobbleNut.  Care to share your experience on the Gould's hunt and who you used?  PM me if you want.

Because I live close to the border and have contacts with some folks that deal with wildlife management in Mexico, I was able to set up hunts for a while.  That all came to a halt when the shooting started down there.  However, I am again working on some leads for future hunts,...hopefully beginning next spring.  (apologies to woodshopteacher for getting off-topic)

He may also be wanting to complete a Mexican slam.

Apologizing:  does not always mean you are wrong and the other person is right.
It just means that you value your relationship more than your ego.

Or maybe he's like me. I'm trying to get US slam, Mexican slam and Canadian slam. Wanna say when I'm done I was able to hunt just about every turkey there was in every situation. Lofty ambitious goal for sure.

Yes I would like to get the Mexican slam. I already have a Gould's and an Ocellated. I hunted Gould's with el corral last year it was awesome. I hunted Ocellated with Yukkutz this year. I'm prob going to hunt rios in Mexico next spring. Really the price is close to what some outfitters in Texas are charging. I'm in Ohio so I would have to fly. I also love seeing the different cultures and landscapes that Mexico has. I have never felt unsafe while in Mexico.

Woodshopteacher, if you hunted with Manuel at Yukkutz, you should talk to him about Rio's in Mexico. When I talked with him at the NWTF convention in February, he was working on putting a Mexican Slam camp together.
I also want to hunt them south of the border.
