Burris FF3 Mounting Question

First off, I have researched and read 10 pages of old threads, but still searching...

I have purchased a ff3 in AR Plarform because it was on sale.  I am now converting it to fit my 870 Remington. I am trying to decide exactly how I should mount the sight.  Consifering mounting the 336 base directly to gun or a pica tinny mount on some other type base.   

My gun (870 sps shurshot) currently has tru glo rifle sights.  I like the lo profile of 336 base, but I will have to drill/countersink the 336 mount to fit (prefer drilling base as opposed to gun as it's already drilled and tapped, albeit not for this 336 base), and I think my rifle sights would be in the way of the red dot.   If I choose this route, is my best option to remove the tru glo rifle sights completely?

Second option is pica tinny mount on say weaver 429 base.  although it would sit a bit higher, perhaps this setup will enable the ability to leave rifle sights on gun and have them  for emergency event that Ff3 has some issue mid hunt. I know it will be impossible to use rifle sights perfectly , I do think they could be useful to some degree. 

I am open to any ideas, suggestions or better yet- personal experiences.

Even with the 336 base, the sight is still high enough that you will be looking over the truglo sights.  I left my trulgo rear sight on and took off the truglo bead. I can see the rear sight in the lower part of the FF3 window.  If I line up the rear sight with the gun's front bead, I know that the center of the FF3 window is a very good approximation of the red dot, should I ever have a battery failure.  It also gives me a quick check on whether something has been knocked out of alignment.

I guess I will get a 336 base and drill it instead of redrilling a gun that is already rolled and tapped.  It's unfortunate there isn't a 336 base camps ruble with 870.  Strange for a gun so common

I'd definitely give that a try before messing with the gun.

That's the plan.  Those 336 bases are about $40 from what I have seen, not cheap but better than adding more holes to a nearly brand new 870

Take this for what it is worth.  I recently decide to go with a red dot due to aging eyes (62 yo).  The speed bead mount is the lowest mount available.  With it you can probably use any receiver/rib mounted sighting system that you want if the batteries fail.  I found a 20 ga Beretta 391 mount and put a ff3 on it and I could easily use the bead if the battery fails.  The mount seems to be very secure and certainly good enough for 50 yards or less.
