Not really a contrivsy, just that the longer box style of calls has been made in the Eminence Mo area for over 100 years. They called them longbox, boat paddles,house stud, and my favorite fence post. Lamar just coppied a stlye that Cost coppied from Eminence call makers. Cost did spend a lot of time in that area hunting over the years, infact he actually writes on his calls that some of the wood came from Jacks Fork wich is a river than runs right past Eminence Mo. Not trying to start a fight but just some facts. There's another member who could school us all on this but he doesn't post much anymore.

Ah yes thank you SinGin.  I completely forgot about the fencepost calls.  Duh.  I have a Cecil Fry fencepost although he is not as prominent as Searcy or Winterbottom.  I think Neil just made them in his own style.  One in the NWTF museum says early 1800's even.  I believe it's on loan from Rob Keck.
