I have just shot them in the back yard, but am gonna try to shoot this summer at the rod and gun club I'm a member at. They have open practice every week.  Any tips for a beginner?  I've got a Winchester 1300 speed pump I think I'm gonna use.

I do a ton of it in my back yard. I have lots of relatives and friends that shoot here. We get together often and blast of a case or three of shells. The young ones learn gun safety, as well as how to hit a flying bird. You can't beat it. The look in their eyes when they hit that first bird, is priceless. Man, I love that stuff..Mike

Keep your head on the gun and your eye on the bird, also just have fun.

I usually shoot one round when I go pattern my shotgun. I use my old JC Higgins 12 G pump tough as that is my shotgun of choice for pheasant on the east side. I like the low recoil of the 2 3/4" shells. But I did try the "turkey gun" with the right choke and did okay in case old tom decides to fly by.

I useally go thru several thousand rounds a year, 12ga, 20ga, and 410

YEP....I've shot a ton of clays throught the years....Not so much in the past two years since the cost of ammo went through the roof,  but I LOVE to shoot em'

Lead the target and follow through just like shooting a bird. Start with a skeet choke and after you become confident, move your chokes up. Buddy and I shoot full occasionally because we use full chokes on pheasant. If you can get a thrower set up right the clay flies the same and its good practice. After a while you'll notice you don't even "sight" in on the clay, you just get instinctive about shooting it. Get ready to spend some money though, like with everything else, it takes practice. And practice isn't always cheap.
