I hunted in North Central Tennessee on a shotgun quota yesterday.  I have hunted this area before and always have good luck.  Yesterday was amazing,  I think it's safe to say we heard atleast 200 gobbles from daylight to 5:30 that evening.  We setup on 4 toms roosted together at daylight, they flew down and would only come to about 60 yds and stand and gobble then go about 60 yards directly away from us.  They done this over and over.  We decided to move on them and made a large half circle to get in the woods and close to the other spot they were pacing between.  We slipped in the woods and had a perfect setup, and 10 minutes later they were headed our way.  Then we started hearing a hen about 50yds in front of us, thought it sounded too good for a hunter, and the birds were coming hard.  Then a bird started hammering behind us and closing fast.  Well that hen wasn't a hen, we had looped around and setup behind another hunter not realizing what had happened.  So we stayed put and called a little to work with him kinda like we dropped back to help pull them and it wasn't long until he hammered one.  About five minutes after he shot the bird behind us gobbled again, and we dropped back about 40 yds and started calling to him and he came running to about 60yds!!  Then his head popped up and he was gone as quick as he showed up.  He spotted the other hunter leaving the woods on the fire break about 40 yds behind us, all we needed was two more minutes but I don't know if that guy ever really knew we were there.  Frustrating but a good hunt.  We saw alot of birds and heard gobbling all day long.  I've hunted for 15 years and never heard gobbling like yesterday.  Just couldn't buy a break.

Thats odd, we hunted a farm that always has toms on it and never heard a peep before daylight. A little after sun up I saw a tom step out in the shadows 200 yds away and he looked my direction once and walked back into the woods. We circled around the field a set up again and I got him to sound off with Pappy's tube call then he answered my buddy every time. He would come within 60 yds and head deeper into the woods.
Let everything that hath breath praise the Lord

That's why they call it hunting and not killing!! Good luck on the rest of your hunts!!

I know 200 gobbles may be hard to believe, but it was like nothing I've ever heard and may not ever hear again.  Short of killing a bird it was the best day I've had.
