Jehovah Witness question for those who might know...

I am wondering if Jehovah Witnesses are allowed to associate with non-Jehovah Witnesses?  Such as, hunting, fishing and other similar activities. You can just send me a personal message if you like, but I would like to know the answer from someone and not just assume Google is right or wrong.  Thanks.

That one would likely vary from one Kingdom Hall to another and it would also depend on the morals and character of the person not affiliated with the organization.  I do know some of the kids do not play organized school sports because of the "association" issue but others do.
For the record, I am not Jehovahs Witness, but I did date an Ole gal that was a former member and her folks weren't too keen on her association with me.....

I'm not sure I understand what you are asking but..  I worked with a guy 15 years ago in MI who was a JW.  He spent every Saturday morning going door to door.  Saturday afternoons he would come to my house with his beagle and hunt rabbits.

They don't have a problem working (making money) for someone that is not, so why would they have a problem fraternizing with them ???? Just asking......
I'm not a Christian because I'm strong and have it all together. I'm a Christian because I'm weak and admit I need a Saviour!

I am just asking if they can be friends basically with people outside of their beliefs or can they get into trouble for doing so?

I don't know why, but if you google it, it mentions they really aren't allowed to associate with people who aren't JWs.  Probably has to do with the possibility of  being influenced by others.

Reason I am asking has to with my friendship with an individual who is a JW.  We have been friends for awhile now, over 10 years.  We have never discussed our beliefs for the most part.  He knows I go to church and I know he goes to the Hall.  Beyond that, not much else gets brought up really.  Just small talk if anything. We do quite a bit of hunting and fishing together.  I had heard that typically they aren't allowed to associate with people outside of their faith and was wondering if there could come a time where he would say he can no longer do so or kind of fade away, without coming right out and asking him to avoid any weirdness it may cause.  I'm sure the reason behind not associating if true, is to avoid any bad influences, which he wouldn't get from me anyway.

Now that would make sense and be ok...

Got a guy here I play ball with. His family are all JW. His wife works with mine. They don't celebrate anything, his kid plays with mine and he's invited me fishing. So I guess it's not that big a deal.

It's not a big deal. My uncle is a JW preacher so obviously his family is very devout in that religion. No they do not play organized sports, celebrate holidays or birthdays. They typically do stay to themselves within their own people, but I know they have associated with non JW people in the past, just not often. I never heard of any rules saying they couldnt. I think it has more to do with associating with others of a like mind. I can tell you from experiance some of them are no problem but alot are strange to have conversations with. They are very close as an organization much like a large family. They build their own halls together as well. So just think if you associated with the same people 4+ times a week that would become your primary social network as well. Not sure there's any intention behind or just human nature.

My best turkey hunting buddy is a JW. The only thing he asked of me is to not buy him anything for Christmas,b-day ect. He would just say I got this for you and I would extend the same courtesy to him.
When I turkey hunt I use a DSD decoy

I taught a JDUB how to turkey hunt. He is one of the finest people you're gonna meet. He brings.me oysters and we also do.a.little duck hunting.
Called him one.Saturday.morning ,he was talking to people about the Bible..Good thing. I ask him if he.was walking or riding.a.bike..lol.
John is.a great.guy and is a darn good hunter.. He gets.the.best.oysters.. hands down.
We don't talk much a about our different religious.. but we always talk about "good honest living".and treating people fair.
I really like a "Good Man" period. And John is one of them.. Thanks John for all you have.done.
