My travel pack consists of the the following:
4-5 fresh pairs of boxers
3 pairs of socks
3 tshirts
1 nice Oxford/button-up
1 pair of golf shorts
1 pair of khakis
1 fleece pullover
Soap, toothebrush, toothpaste, deodorant
1 pair of Sperry's

Then I have an entire bag of camo turtlenecks, camo tshirts, and pants just for hunting. I've also always got my vest, boots and a  camo hat.

I have most of the above gear packed and ready to go at anytime during the spring. My brother literally went to Florida to kill a public land Osceola on Friday nite, scouted Saturday, killed Sunday morning and was back in Virginia by late Sunday nite.  With as much as we travel to chase turkeys, I've pretty much gotten it down to a 10 minute packing session for any 3-5 day last minute trip.

Additionally, when I'm out of town I always like to look presentable when I'm not actually hunting.  From interacting with my landowners, to dinners w friends to meeting new landowners to secure additional permission, it never pays to look like a hillbilly.

You don't want to ask me lol. I take way too much stuff ..

Most important: shotgun, shells, calls,license,wallet,knife.
Somewhat important: camo, boots, gloves, and headnet.
Luxury items: extra underwear, socks, toothpaste and brush, soap, change of clothes.
I personally found that not showering or keeping up on hygiene  for a few days is very effective in the woods. It confuses them both the eyes and the olfactory system. You also don't have to wait in line at any convenience stores. Good luck.

Specifically for out of state hunts:

A copy of the local hunting regs
Gun cleaning kit / takedown tools (in case I fall and stick the gun in the mud, or something jams)
A big cooler with ice packs (one must be optimistic)
Google Earth images of the general hunt areas
Laptop, in hopes of local wi-fi access
Maps of the hunt areas, especially public land
Landowner maps and listings
Beer/wine/booze for the evenings

I have a checklist (quite comprehensive) made up in a word document that I have been compiling for the past several years of taking turkey hunting trips that I print off when I start to pack for an out of state trip..

I bowhunt, so some of the stuff may not apply to you, but you might get some ideas of stuff you may have forgotten, or you can easily customize it to your own needs.

If you are interested in having me send it to you, send me your email address and I would be more than happy to send it to you.
