Well we did pretty good for going in blind...we moved last year and since didn't have anywhere to deer hunt last year I was out of my rhythm of pre-season scouting for turkeys...needless to say we did ok...got setup just before dawn with a hen decoy in the field just hoping we here something gobble...I'm thinking we are in the wrong spot when I hear the thunder chicken sound off...as this was my sons first time turkey hunting (its youth season here) he was pretty excited to hear a bird...then another off to our right...I was thinking this could get interesting real quick like...so after some soft calling and purring they are on the move heading our direction...the one on the left is still talking to us and getting closer...the one on the right only gobbled one time...well after about 30 minutes of back and forth I start hearing hens of to my left...the field is broke into two parts by a natural area so its an upper and lower field...another 30 minutes goes by and I can still hear a hen ever now and then but the ole boy is quiet...I know he is henned up...so we get up and back out to the road and start making our way down to look in the lower field and there they are...a big ole strutter and 5 hens...had I gone with my gut feeling my boy might have had a shot...I was on my way to setup in that particular field but didn't want to make my boy walk all the way down there in the dark so we stopped early...all in all it was a wonderful day...we heard birds gobble...saw him strutting his stuff and I got to spend the morning with my boy...priceless

Great morning! It's excitement in high gear when they're gobbling!  :icon_thumright:
If I had a dollar for every gobbler I thought I fooled I'd be well off!
