I've had loose crimps from all shell companies, but it's more common with EM.  I give them a coating of nail polish whether they need it or not.  I had one that was too bad to seal, so I emailed EM about it, and they sent me a hat.  ;)

That's the attitude I'm talking about!  A do-er.  A Fixer.  A Finder of solutions.  These are the kinds of people that get things done in life!  Find a problem, fix it and move on to bigger and better things.

Well played sir, and may your season be filled with adventure of the good and memorable kind.
I'm not exactly sure if you are directing your sarcasm toward my post or not but if you read it you'd see I did " fix " them.  A couple are to far gone but it's not a huge problem.  Now had I known about it I would have "fixed" them before use but I didn't.  Which lead me to make this post.  I was simply curious if it was a common problem...that's all...
Now I have shot thousands of shells over the years and yes, I have seen one leak buffer on occasion but not a whole box, and regardless of how much money or time I spend on turkey hunting I still find that lacking in quality. Regardless if I'm willing to fix them or not.
Genesis 1:26
Then God said, "Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals,[a] and over all the creatures that move along the ground."

I've never had the problem straight out of box but with use have had it happen with all brands of shells I've used Nitro hevi Remm Winch. Federal. Best thing to do is just give them quick coat and don't stress

briton

I have had that same problem with a box of Magblends, the crimp was so deep in the shells that it did not seal and the glue that they put on the end of it had fallen out ( I wasn't too happy either considering the cost, like you mentioned). I still have them because I didn't trust them on a turkey and did not want the buffer spilling into the action of my gun. Shouldn't have to fix a $6 to $7 dollar shell.

LB's have had a similar problem. My buddy had one that the resin apparently broke apart in the tube of his gun after firing the first initial round at his bird. Good thing he killed it because the crimp failed on the LB and left his gun useless until it was taken apart and cleaned. After speaking to one of the reps, turns out it happened to several people. Didn't keep me from using them. It's just that any she'll can fail at any given time. I've never had issues with either brand but have heard the problems with both.

Wait, what are you trying to say happened?

Owlhoot, answered it at the bottom of page one. It was the "shot card" that came loose but the recoil also shattered the resin of one of the rounds in the tube. It allowed shot to leak into the chamber and rendered the fun useless until it was disassembled and cleared. It happened to several of his shells in the end. Winchester was straight up about the situation but it doesn't change the fact that it could've been a bad situation.

It takes about 20 seconds to re-seal a box of 5.

If you don't have 20 seconds or a dollar to buy glue  or a bottle of clear nail polish turkey hunting might not be the right sport for you...

And there it is. The posts and attitude that lead people to other forums to get away from the crap. Rather than be a useless troll, how about help the man out. Maybe he didn't think of the nail polish. Maybe he did and was venting. Either way, this reply was about as useful as the one I can't even believe I'm taking the time to type up right now. I understand his frustration totally. If I'd paid $10 for a box of shells, I'd expect low quality and to maybe see some issues. If I'm paying upwards of $30 for a box of 5, you're darn certain they're going to be held to higher standards. Not really necessary to shame the man for asking a question and being aggravated.

I don't believe spaightlabs was trying to be a troll. This subject has been covered 136 times over the past 7 years or so...seriously. It happens with every shell maker. Some worse than others. Give 'em a quick swipe and go on. The answer was purely tounge-n-cheek. Hang on turkey season is coming, errbody calm down...

Candle wax is the best fix. Melt a candle and pour the wax on the crimp. Wipe off the excess with a rag and you're good to go.

Forget that. No reason you should have to be a fixer or a finder of solutions when it comes to an issue with brand new box of shells where your paying $5 a shell. The fact they sent a hat is a joke as well. My attitude was their selling crap. Leaking buffer, pattern inconsistency from one box to the next, no thanks.

To be fair, it was a pretty nice hat.  It did more than $5's worth of improvements to my looks.

I take back my previous statement. That's a game changer! Can't beat a strong hat game.

Priceless. Just priceless. Needed a good laugh today. Thanks man.

Was it in bottomland ? If so I'm calling first thing in the morning.  :camohat:

I've had most shells leak buffer...

Worst was Win XRD with poly buffer...almost cost me a KS double when the buffer jammed up the mag follower...almost...

I've had the glue on Nitro shells pop off, and yes, they clear sealant on H-13 come off after being carried a bit...

But fixing turkey gear is pretty normal to me...every vest I've bought is cheap & flimsy, needs sewing after a few hunts...1/2 the turkey calls I buy sound like crap...

Babying a $6-7 shell is the least of my concerns...
