What is everyone carrying shears n saws for? I normally set up quickly n don't give the woods a haircut. No disrespecting anyone's methods but what's so important about them? Curious to why they're being carried? To me seems so unnecessary?

one of my top must haves

helps with getting things out of the way or in the right spot

Cut N Run

A 20 oz bottle of Water
Some Dried Fruit (figs, apricots, mango, etc.)
8 Shells
Compact Binoculars
Small Compass
Brush Clippers
ThermaCell & refills
T.P. & Wipes
Disposable Lighter
Pen Light & spare batteries
2 pair Camo Gloves
2 Headnets
Knife
Signed Permission
Crow Call (I seldom use)
1 Long Box
1 Slate Pot
1 Glass Pot
3 Strikers
4 Mouth Calls
Scotch Brite & small piece of Drywall Screen
A few Zip Ties
Cell Phone
Pocket Camera (sometimes)
I always carry one (9,000+/- year old) Stone Spear Point in my vest so the spirit of the hunt is always with me.
It also reminds me how much easier it is to hunt turkeys these days compared to the way the ancient ones hunted.

Luck counts, good or bad.

If I had a dollar for every gobbler I thought I fooled I'd be well off!

Don't wear a vest unless I'm gonna be somewhere I may have to carry a bird a LOOOOOOOOOOONG way out.

The good Lord ain't made a gobbler I can't kill.  I just gotta be there at the right time.....  on the day he wants to die.

This will be my first season, but here's what I'll be taking.
Small flashlight
LED Headlamp with white and red light
Thermocell with refills
Shells
knife
TP
water bottle
snack
Primos glass pot
Bonjour slate pot
Purpleheart, tulipwood, laminate, osage, and cedar strikers
Mouth call case with 4 mouth calls
spring creek short box
Owl hooter
crow call
chalk
Pot call essentials (sandpaper/scotchbrite)
headnet
gloves
brush clippers
camera
camera stand
multi tool
small bag with first aid supplies (bandaids, neosporin, ace bandage, bug sting cream, chapstick)
extra set of batteries for my trs-25
decoys
orange sling bag for carrying turkey out
phone
magnesium fire starter

Man, I didn't realize how much stuff I had.

Good luck in your first season.  Keep this list and you will smile when you look back after your tenth season.  You will be able to pick out the new hunters from their gear list.
Remember, be patient and mimic being a real turkey not a TV or Video turkey.

Thanks for the tips and the good luck. I got my vest ready yesterday and i kept thinking "where am I going to put all this? How am I going to sit comfortably?" So I will probably be trimming a few things off the list. I may look into a different vest too. Mine seems long and bunches up when I sit down. I don't want to be uncomfortable when I'm working a bird.
