Say you go on a turkey hunt/camping trip for 6 days in another state. If you got a turkey on day one, how do you keep the meat? Just on ice? Thanks

I'd breast it out,  fry it up and eat it.  Then the leftovers can be kept without worrying about uncooked poultry issues.  Take some Kentucky Kernel or other seasoned flour with you and you're ready.  And maybe get lucky and find some mushrooms too.   ;D

Lots of ice and keep the water drained...

Either option listed above.   Eat it, or plenty of ice and keep drained.    It will be fine.
If I'm not back in five minutes, wait longer!

I freeze water in 2 liter bottles prior, No water to drain and they will last in a coleman cooler for 7-10 days depending on sun and temp.

^^^ this.
Keeping it drained is the ticket. Had a similar thing happen few years ago while camping in the fall. It was on ice for 5 days. Was just fine.

Yeti, Engel, or virtually any other high end cooler will accomplish this task easily.

You probably also need to keep all tags and confirmation numbers(Missouri) with your meat.  We found that out a couple years ago.  We had the tags on the legs in camp, but that was not proof that the meat in the bag was from that turkey, so said the warden.  We did not get cited, but from then on we put hunter's name, license number, confirmation number on every bag.  If you put meat in separate bags, you need to label each bag, I.E., turkey 1, bag 1. Anyone else run it to this?

I hunt one area in KS where I know the stores get cold shipments on Tuesday and I will travel into town and get the dry ice that they throw out. It works out good.
When I turkey hunt I use a DSD decoy

When traveling I breast out the birds and save legs and thighs. Double bag everything in good quality zip locks, put your tag in one of the outer zip locks and you should be good for several days. I carry an extra styrofoam cooler just for birds, like an Omaha Steaks cooler. Ice will last several days.
