Ok I bought a 510 mini 20 gauge for my son last year and put a truglo TG158X TURKEY CHOKE in it and no matter what I shoot through it , my POI is ridiculous! I scrouged around and through on some fiber optics from one of my other Turkey guns that I no longer use, but I don't use them because they are Crap. But I was able to get them tuned in for my son's 20 gauge. I really want him to be able to squirrel hunt with this gun as well. My only option that I can think of is a red dot but that's really not good for squirrel hunting in my opinion.....
The POI is high and right, about 8"s from POA.
My Mossy 535 Turkey thug is identical and the fiber optics that came with it , won't even adjust that far.

I guess I am asking if this is a Mossy problem and am going to have to settle with red dots or is there something to do with the CHOKE or shell combination?
Anyone experience these problems as well?

I'm shooting the stock choke out of the 535 and jelly head .660 with long beard #5 or #6. Both shoot high and right.
My son is shooting the truglo Turkey choke with long beards #6's and Hevi #6's.

Put the mod choke on for squirrel and shoot bead.

That's what we already do. Just really want to figure out why both guns POI are so high.
You'd think the money these things cost, especially a specific Turkey gun "Turkey thug 535" would not require the addition of special optics......

Thanks for the input. Happy hunting :fud:

How does the X-Factorâ„¢ that came with the 510 shoot? Why don't you try several #6 Pb loads (Fed, Fio, Rem, & Win) through that choke instead of the after market TG you have.

It came with an IC, MOD and FULL . It's not the Turkey thug version.
I will try the full and see. I'll let you know.
Thanks.

I had this same problem with an 835 I purchased and I ended up mailing the gun back to them and they put a brand new barrel on it and even fired it with a turkey shell and sent me the paper target with the gun to show it was on. I have not had a problem with the gun since and am able to use the iron sights instead of a red dot. Customer service was awesome and although it was an incovience I feel they did what was right. I did buy this gun second hand and that's probably why I got a good deal on it, but that still did not stop them from doing the right thing and fixing the problem.
It did take about 6 to 8 weeks from time I shipped the gun till I got it back. Hope that helps and good luck.

Thanks for the info.
My last resort would be sending it back to Mossberg.
Did it cost you anything for the new barrel?

Spring Fever

It did not cost me anything. They even paid for shipping both ways.

Dang! Yeah I believe that I will be sending it back to Mossberg after this Turkey season.
It shoots a great pattern with many different loads but for the price and pure shot density, it's hard to beat the long beard #6's or#5's. I've killed several birds with it and the red dot is dead on. But I just eventually want to get away from the red dot. I like to use my 870 a lot but it's caused me to miss several birds because the trigger is heavy and has some creep to it. The Remington870 I really like and probably wouldn't shoot my mossy but man that trigger! Lol I wish I could put that acu-trigger off my mossy on my 870!
I going to try some Heavy13 straight#7's this year.
As soon as my buddy gets them in I'm going to get a box and can't wait to test them out at 40+ yards .
