Here is another Richard Hudson Hen Box that was born of the same snakewood over black limba flock as Rickey's.  I couldn't be more pleased with Richard's workmanship and I've been having a great time learning to run it.  The "eye" you see is from a worm hole in the limba that made for some really interesting color changes to the wood.

You and Rickey scored big. That Limba really looks figured. How does it sound? Is it more on the raspy side?

Ricky could give you a wood comparison better than me.  This is my one and only.  I will say that the old hen side is very raspy on the back end.  I don't know how it could be more so.  I love the way it sounds when I do my part.  But I really like the young hen side too.  I can more easily get a classic high-low break on that side.

Well I got the third out of the litter. It is a top notch sounding box call and is pretty. I added it to the snakewood over teak I have from him. I like the sound of the limba better. It is deeper with a heavy rasp on the backend. The snakewood over teak sounds great. It has a higher pitch with that tail end high rasp. His hen boxes are the best sounding box calls I have ever played and I have played a ton. Will probably get another combo from him before season. Anyone have a combo from him that they like?
