This would be my #2 bird for Maryland.
9 1/2" beard
1" Spurs
20lbs
Heard two gobbles in the early dawn hours hunting near three dust bowls within 30 yards of one another. So fresh they had feathers in them. Couldn't get it going by 7am so I slowly walked to a nearby field. Within five minutes my Watkins box gets an answer from the field edge. The easy thing would have been for him to walk right down the edge of the field and be within 30 yards but nope.... He cuts in and now gobbles to my left. Swing to the side and get a gobble on my Gooserbat mouth call and wait. Here he comes with that red white and blue head a bobbin and snood a swinging to within 15 yards. Then he puts on the brakes and you can tell he has that UHHH BOY!!! look.
The rest is history.
