Wingbone calls

Who here uses a wingbone call only? I have one and am going to practice with until I'm good. I can't use mouth calls because of a medical condition. The only call I don't think I will be able to do is a purr. I really walk a long distance as I only hunt public land and don't want to carry a lot.

If you choose and learn to use one well, a wingbone caller alone will serve you nicely.  What is it they said?  "Beware of the man with one gun."

Honestly up until this year I didn't think there was much to them, obviously because I didn't know how to run one and hadn't heard anyone who could very well either. I made a few from my birds this season and started practicing and once I got the concept down I was amazed at the sound you can get out of these little things. My season is over this year but I will definitely have one with me next year.  Maybe not by itself but they will get used for sure.

Anyone know of a link to a good video explaining how to use a wingbone call?  I've tried playing the one I made and I can't get turkey sounds out of it.

There's a ton of how to's on YouTube.  Most just  say to make a kiss sound, but all that will get ya is a cluck.  Once you get the position of the mouth piece and lip pressure right where you can make a decent  cluck just try to draw air in like you're taking a big gulp of drink through a straw (without making the popping sound ).. It took me a few days of toting one around before picking it up but when I set out to learn something, by gosh it's gonna happen and I'm yelping pretty darn  good now. I started a thread in the wing bone call section about sound files and some members gave a few names of some really good sounding  callers you may want to check out to give you an idea as to what you can get out of one.

called one in to 70 yds on Sat. with a wing bone, then 2 jakes came in and ran him off, he answered back a couple times as he left

I waited an hour, then went about 400 yds to last place I heard him, yelped on the wingbone and he answered back, came in to 60 yards and was looking off to my side, I clucked and he came on, rocks blocked my view for a bit and he popped out at 19 yds and that was it,

I had other calls with me but only used the wingbone for this bird
this was on public land in Md.
