Anyone hunting Colorado? I am going out there this weekend to finish out my season. Been a great year so far and hope to end it with two more gobblers. I plan to hunt Rios in the eastern part of the state and maybe finish in the mountains chasing a Merriam's.  I have a public land limited tag for the Rio and plan to buy an over the counter tag for the Merriam's.

What unit are you in for your Rio?  guessing 96 or 91?

If so, lots of activity right now - was out in 96 yesterday goofing around and stopped by a friend's farm - 5 big puffers hanging around and enjoying the spring day before the rain...

Haven't heard much from anyone causing the Ridge Runners, but I have a buddy going out this weekend in the foothills up north and can let ya know.

Ps - getting a little 'ticky' out along the river...bring your bug dope.  Been raining  good bit lately and supposed to keep raining on and off for the next several days - when the sun pops out it'll get humid fast and the bugs will be hungry.

I will be hunting Unit 103.

Ahhhh, Bonny/Republican.

Haven't heard anything out of there yet this year. I suspect it should be about the same as the rest of the eastern plains.

I have hunted it one other year and had an awesome hunt. I killed a gobbler before 6:00am the first morning. I messed with them for a couple more days after that and called in a bunch of gobblers. Going a little later this year and did not know what to expect.

You should be good.  I drove through there on Monday and saw plenty of birds out and about.  Good luck out there!

Looks like it could be soggy/snowy depending on where you are.  Friends killed a couple of great mountain birds up north today, took some boot leather to find them, but one they did they sealed the deal on 2 nice ones in 15 minutes.

Looks like it will be pretty nasty where I am going this weekend. Snow showers with lows in the 20s and winds 30+ mph. But it is suppose to be nice next week. I will probably not start hunting until next Monday. If I kill a Rio early I plan to go down around Trinidad and hunt around the Twin Peaks area for a few days.

We hunted the 5/6/7th on public in Pagosa Springs area. First 2 days were rough weather wise but once the sun came out on the 7th it was lights out.  We had to get really high though b/c of pressure in early season I guess.

River bottoms out east are out of their banks.  Some concern that it could be worse than the 500 year floods of 2013 in areas.

Be careful.

I got home from Colorado last night. I hunted in the snow and 30 mph winds a couple days. But I did manage a Rio on the plains and a mountain gobbler at 8500 ft in the San Isabel National Forest. Nothing like turkey hunting and seeing lots of elk while hunting.  One of my favorite hunts I have ever been on. I will post some pics later.
