First Bow Kill

Registered my first bow kill turkey on Saturday. It was not the bird I was looking for or hoping for, but in the end, being my first bird with a bow, I am happy with the results.

I had a good tom and some jakes scouted for some time. The birds roost in the same area frequently, and the area has a good place to set up for a bow hunting situation. Got a bit of a late start on Saturday morning, as being the iPhone genius that I am, I set my alarm for 3:30 PM, not AM. Managed to get a jake and a hen decoy set up on the edge of the field without being seen and settled in. Shortly after 5:00 AM, five birds pitched out of the roost and into the field. They began to move away from my set up, which was just out of their sight. A few gobbler yelps and a couple of gobbles snagged their attention. When they caught sight of the set up, they came running. I was disappointed that the big boy was not in the group, but not surprised. Based on the hen yelping on the roost, I assume the big boy flew down into the woods with his ladies. It didn't take me long to make up my mind, and the largest in the group was mine. The Rage two blade was devastating; that bird went maybe five yards.

My biggest disappointment was that I believed I had the whole thing on camera. But the camera was mounted to my bow, and my bow was to low to record the kill shot, as the camera was obscured by brush I was hiding behind.

Nicely done.  Bow and no blind=difficult

Congrats. A bow changes everything in the turkey woods
When I turkey hunt I use a DSD decoy

Good job that's a tall order...taking a bird with a bow is no easy task without a blind.

Awesome, I had to watch the biggest bird I've seen this year walk off from 14 yards, because I was hunting with a bow and no blind. Like said before, very difficult. Congrats.
