For those that hunt multiple subspecies of turkeys, do you find yourself using different types (sounds) of calls for different types of turkeys? Do some like higher pitch than others? Or do you just use the same calls on local birds and out of state/other species of birds?

For Rios, Gould's and Merriam's I use a higher pitched box call............ all purpleheart short box or a Primos Battleship longbox, lately.
Not because the different subspecies like a different sound. But because those calls have more punch or each in open, windy country.

I typically use calls with more rasp and volume for Rios but its because of there habitat, and their tendency to be more obnoxious more than the voice issue.

One of my personal current interests is nest predators and how a majority of hunters, where legal bait to the extent of chumming coons. However once they get the predators concentrated they don't control them.

I really can't tell much difference between a Rio hen & an Eastern hen soundwise. A Rio gobble seems to be slightly higher pitched than an Eastern but the hens sound the same to me. I use the same calls.
