Thoughts about the supernova?

I currently shoot a 835 and one love the gun but I've been looking for a new turkey getter. I've got the opportunity to buy a supernova that has only had 2 boxes of shells through it for $475. Is that a good deal? It's all camo with the comfortech stock and also has the pistol grip stock. Guy says the gun shoots great he just decided he wanted an autoloader

Good price if it has both stocks.  I doubt it'll out shoot the mossberg but it's a nice gun

I've owned a Nova since shortly after they were introduced. With the SN of course, you have the ability to change stocks but the fire control and bore are the same as the Nova.

They are good guns, very reliable and have stood the test of time in that regard. With most of the exterior covered in plastic and a chrome-lined bore, maintenance is greatly reduced.

The biggest complaint about the Nova/Super Nova is generally the very heavy and sometimes gritty trigger. I have found, as have many others, that the trigger can be greatly improved through dry-firing the gun. It would take a lot of range time to accomplish what you can in several evenings of dry firing. One of my friends dry-fired his each evening while watching television.

The Nova is also a very quick pump gun. When you fire it, the slide begins a rearward motion and allows for a very quick ejection and chambering of the next round. It's a great feature for an upland or waterfowl gun. When turkey hunting, it pays to keep forward pressure on the slide (forend) to keep the muzzle steady.

You also have a great variety of chokes available with the Mobil system and the 3.5" chamber allows to select any 12 gauge shell available.

Properly choked and with the ammo that your gun likes, it should serve you well.

 I have seen that gun advertised at around $600 new so I would think $475 with only 2 boxes of shells through it should be a good deal. Don't buy into  the old wives' tale that Benelli's don't pattern. They pattern plenty good enough, just check out the pattern pic forum to see some choke and load combo's.

Excellent point. In my most recent evaluations, both the SBE and Vinci, both with same barrel i.d. as the Nova, patterned exceptionally well with WLB & Hevi-13 shotshells.
