Had 2 black snakes crawl right past me sitting in the woods this afternoon. Harmless but still makes your heart skip a beat. My mother got bit by a cottonmouth in our driveway one night on the way out to get the mail. She got pissed at my dad for wanting the mail that late at night. Thought she got stung by a wasp. Ha. Never saw the snake. Couple hours later she was in the hospital taking antivenom.

I have another picture of my dad holding it up. It was all of 5 and a half feet long. Biggest one I have ever seen and I have lived around water all my life. I have never worn snake boots but after this I might just buy a pair.

With cotton mouths, rattlesnakes and copperheads here in Eastern NC, you wear snake boots and still watch where you step.

I had a snake fall out of a tree and into my lab one evening while turkey hunting. You would have thought I caught the Holy Ghost the way i levitated and got the heck out of there. I HATE snakes, especially the ones that sneak up on you.

I almost stepped on this guy and have seen another just as long but three times as thick this spring haven't killed either of them I killed every cotton mouth or copperhead I see they are mean but unless a rattlesnake acts aggressive which I hardly have seen one that's acted like it had any thought of biting me than I let them go

There are many things I hate about living in New York...
But, not having to worry about snakes isn't one of them!

the only snake worth a damn is a dead one

Snake boots are the ONLY way to go when trying to ease in near rooster birds well before day light. Go REAL tai chi slow and try not to snap any twigs without a light.

About 15 yrs ago was learning to hunt turkey, and sat down to discover a coiled brown snake between my knees. He was small and Had round pupils, so non poisonous. Taught me a lesson though. Could have been real ugly.
