Has anyone here built one of these for a turkey gun? I have had one since I was a kid and was thinking of having it tapped for choke tubes and having it cut down to about 18.5 in. I think it would make a great lightweight gun to use on long hunts.

I'm working on one now. Found a nice older topper 88 20ga with the smaller OD barrel. Got a ATI stock and forend, bushnell trs red dot.

Now off to sumtoy for rail mount and chokes. Fill Ya in later...

I've got a 20 ga. tamer that I have used for turkeys, still has the factory mod choke though.  At some point I will probably thread it.

I love the small single shot 20s.  I fixed a rossi up last year and that was the only gun I hunted with and If I wasn't using it my dad was. My dad and I killed 2 a piece with it and my step son killed one.

I've been running one of the older youth guns for about 6 years now...love this gun. It came from the factory threaded in the Winchoke pattern. I had it drilled & tapped for a rail & added a Bushnell trophy red dot to it. I've replaced that red dot after it went belly up on me season before last with a SigTac. Also put an ATI stock (stayed with the std. factory forend...lighter) with a Limbsaver M-4 pad. Polished the bore & with a .555 Pure gold, she throws 180+ into 10" @ 40 yds with 4x5x7 Nitros & 215+ with #7 Nitros. All at just under 5 1/2 pounds.

If you have the work done, the only regret you'll have is that you didn't do it sooner. Yes, they're that good!

Have a great season & be safe,

Nathan

Just back from Sumtoy. Haven't shot it yet but looking forward to it. Got the limbsaver m4 slip on also.

Now, camo paint or flat black? Tough to choose.

Lighting makes it look darker. I weighed it, comes in right at a hefty 5.5 lbs :)

That came out great! That will be a lot of fun to hunt with for sure!       :you_rock:
