SSX choke tube users

I bought a SSX tube for 870. When I screwed it into the gun, it was a little tight(yes, I put anti-seize grease on the threads). I shot about 20 rounds through it. Went to take it out to try a different tube and I couldn't turn it. I finally wrapped a rag around the tube and was able to turn it with a pair of pliers. After about 4-5 full turns I was barely able to turn it without using the pliers. I was worried that the threads on the gun were messed up. I put in a different tube and it screwed in with ease. When I got home I cleaned the threads on the SSX tube and the threads in the barrel. The threads on the tube look good with no visible damage(looked with a magnifying glass). After I cleaned them up I put it back in the gun. It turned easier, but not much. I was able turn it all the way in and all the way back out by hand, but it was tight. I emailed Tru-Glo, but haven't heard back from them yet.
Anybody else have this issue??

I just got the ssx choke for my Mossberg 535 and noticed the same thing tight fitting and diffculities removing it.

Lots of people have had this issue with the ssx. It sounds like your choke tube "swelled" in your barrel. The problem is that these chinese made chokes are machined poorly. There's a reason those chokes can be had for $25. They will probably replace your choke for you. If they do id get rid of it as fast as possible.Shotgun barrels are expensive. Theres a truglo salesman on here maybe he will chime in but I doubt it. Id look into a higher quality american made choke from kicks, trulock, sumtoy, indian creek, and carlsons.

I love my Indian Creek BDS.  I would be leery of a choke tube that was less than about 50.00 bucks.  You get what you pay for.

I have not had an issue with mine, and have shot multiple rounds through it.

I just saw this thread and it sounds like there are some thread issues with some chokes. It happens at times.

I've shot most brands of chokes over the years and unfortunately none are immune from some issues occasionally, including the SSX.

Thousands and thousands of SSX chokes have been sold over the years all over the U.S. and I've been shooting them since 2004. I have a couple of guns that you can "spin-in" some brands of chokes and others that turn a little tightly in and out.

Truglo is a family owned company in Texas and they want all their customers to be happy with their products. You may call 888.8.TRUGLO and ask for customer service. They'll take good care of your needs there. They are good folks.

Thanks,
