Went out to listen to the woods wake up and do some turkey/deer scouting and found a damn tick on me already.It was just on my clothes but just wanted to give a heads up.As soon as the gale force winds die down I will be treating my clothes with permethrin.Worked awesome last year!

I use Duration Concentrate permethrin on my hunting and work clothes. It works great, like having your own personal force field against ticks, chiggers, and mosquitoes. They just stop being a problem.

Initial cost for Duration is around $33.00 for an 8 oz. bottle, or enough to get ~16 treatments per bottle.  For around the same money you'd only get 3 treatments of Sawyers.  I use a pump spray to apply Duration instead of the recommended soaking method, but it is still very effective. 

I almost died from Falciparum Malaria I contracted in the Philippines in 1989.  It was as sick as I imagine it is possible to be.  I travel to Asia and the Indo-Pacific every year where malaria is common, so you can't ever let your guard down.  I never want to go through malaria again and my clothes treated with Duration helps prevent it. Lucky for me, the Falciparum strain is the one malaria that does not recur.

Yup I won't go into the woods again without treated clothes.I figured I was safe as cold as it's been.No more,treating my clothes as soon as I get home from work tomorrow

This increase in ticks is very real. As a nurse, I have never seen so many tick incidents like the past couple of years. We are already seeing some cases this season. I had to remove several from my treated dog as well.

As far as the treatment you describe...how bad is the smell of the treated clothes? I have one good set of camo that I also use during deer season. Would I be better off just getting another set for this purpose?

I treated my clothes before turkey last year and after a few days I couldn't smell it at all.I did it again before my trip to maine for a bear hunt and again half way through the season.I shot deer and had plenty come around.The way I look at it is,if they are downwind your done.I don't care what people say there is no way to be 100% scent contained when it comes to whitetail.I play the wind and do my best to keep the ticks at bay

I just treated all of my clothes in Permethrin for my KY trip this weekend.  With all of the hours that I spend in the woods throughout the entire year...turkey hunting, bowhunting, running trail cameras, looking for sheds...I have NEVER picked a tick off of me here in Steuben County?

I am in upstate NY and have been seeing more ticks the last few years for sure on both our deer and on us.  In all the years that my dad has been hunting as well as myself, we had never found one on ourselves.  2 years ago I had one on my arm and last year my brother had one on his leg after a walk through the woods.  We are definitely taking more precautions in recent years.

Thought you guys might be interested in this. Sawyer's s way over priced. This is a whole lot cheaper and works every bit as good.
